At ‘historic’ TV debate live from Lal Chowk, participants bash babu-raaj in J&K! | Rang Mein Bhang | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Aug 7: Even as the government managed to successfully allow a live TV debate for the national media from “historic” Lal Chowk in militancy infested Kashmir on August 6, the participants in the debate including prominent personalities like politicians took a dig at the administration saying that a section of bureaucrats were behaving like “dictators and breaking all records of corruption.”
While holding the event peacefully was seen a major success for the Jammu and Kashmir Police in particular, the governance on the whole remained a target of the debate.
While the debate was on the abrogation of the so called special status of Jammu and Kashmir, the participants and even those from the audience raised questions over bureaucracy and corruption.
It is pertinent to mention that even as Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta are known for their integrity and dynamism, public criticism is only growing against a section of bureaucracy.

Jammu, Aug 7: Proposal of J&K Government to turn Mubarak Mandi into a heritage hotel here has drawn flak.
Since the proposal has been moved, people of Jammu have reacted sharply and are urging Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to withdraw the idea.

Jammu, Aug 7: Sangeet Natak Akademi Awardee, Mushtaq Kak, on Saturday described the new film policy announced by the J&K Government as “copy, cut paste, policy.”
Kak in an interview with Early Times said, “The new film policy won’t benefit the regional artists. It will only help the outsiders, not the local artists.”
He said, “The present dispensation seems clueless about the regional film industry like Kashmiri, Dogri, Pahari and Poonchi. Our artists have worked extensively in these languages. We had DD Kashir, Jammu channel but these channels have been dismantled.”
