Fearing revolt Cong delays list of candidates for second, third phases | Assembly Polls | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 31: As consensus eludes among names of potential nominees the Congress high command has yet not finalized candidates for the crucial second and third phase of the Assembly elections.
After withdrawing the initial list the BJP released the names of candidates for the second and third phases of the elections with minor changes but the Congress leadership has not muster guts to release the list of candidates for these two phases.
Highly placed sources said that fearing backlash like the BJP, the Congress leadership has decided to release the list of candidates at the eleventh hour of the date of filing of nominations to avoid revolt in the party.
Sources said that almost all ticket aspirants in the Congress party are camping in New Delhi to utilize their resources to get the party mandate.
“Earlier it was announced that the names of the party candidates for second and third phases would be released on August 30 but the same was delayed without giving any reason”, sources said and added that lists would be released within a day or two.
