Jammu, Sept 9: Much like the Jammu Municipal Corporation where some of the prominent leaders from the Bharatiya Janta Party may lose their seats to reservation for the upcoming Urban Local Body polls, the Kashmir based regional parties may face similar situation at Srinagar Municipal Corporation or SMC.
With the J&K Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) issuing notification for the reservation of wards for women, Scheduled Castes (SCs), and Scheduled Tribes (ST), the National Conference, Peoples Democratic Party, Apni Party and the Peoples Conference may lose hope of their prominent leaders contesting from their respective constituencies in Srinagar.
Sources said the probable faces for Mayorship at SMC from the National Conference, Apni Party and the Peoples Conference may lose their stronghold constituencies to the reservations.
Sources said the prominent faces from the NC and Apni Party, who had been working hard in particular wards hoping to contest elections from there are apprehending that their dreams will be shattered even before the elections are held.

Srinagar, Sept 9: Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakhs for those providing information leading to the arrest of the terrorists involved in the killing of senior advocate Babar Qadri in 2020.
The lawyer, Babar Qadri, who was a regular participant in TV news debates was shot dead on September 24, 2020 by two gunmen who came as clients to his Srinagar house. A case was later registered in Police Station Lal Bazar in Srinagar.
The case was last month handed over to SIA.
The SIA has now issued a public notice announcing a reward for those who help the investigators in identifying the killers.

NEW DELHI, Sept 9: The Union Home Ministry on Saturday said no restrictions have been imposed on travel of Governors and Chief Ministers to Delhi or its nearby areas in their state aircraft during the ongoing G20 Summit but those travelling in private chartered flights require prior approval.
The Home Ministry’s statement came after Chief Ministers of Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan Bhupesh Baghel and Ashok Gehlot respectively alleged that their travel plans were disrupted due to the “restrictions” imposed on air travel in and around Delhi.

JAMMU, Sept 9: A senior assistant in the Public Health Engineering department of Jammu and Kashmir was dismissed from service on Saturday for being allegedly involved in the embezzlement of funds worth more than Rs 1.63 crore.
An order issued by Financial Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary of the Jal Shakti department Shaleen Kabra also directed that the embezzled amount be recovered from the employee, Nikhil Gandral, and remitted into the government treasury.
