BJP’s damage control: Dropped senior leaders appointed to strategic positions

Early Times Report Jammu, Sept 9: Realizing that annoying senior leaders would prove disastrous for the party in the ongoing Assembly elections, the BJP has strategically placed several of its senior leaders into key organizational roles after they were passed over for tickets. Prominent leaders such as Sat Sharma, Kavinder Gupta, and Nirmal Singh have been entrusted with important responsibilities in preparation for the elections. Sat Sharma, who was not given a ticket for the forthcoming elections without any reason, has been appointed as the working president of the BJP’s Jammu and Kashmir unit. This role positions him to gradually take over from Ravinder Raina, the former BJP J&K president, who is now a candidate in the upcoming elections. A former MLA and a past president of the party's J&K unit, Sharma brings considerable experience to the position. Additionally, the BJP has named Nirmal Singh, a former deputy chief minister, as the head of the campaign committee for the elections. New Delhi, Sept 9: The Centre on Monday advised states and union territories to screen and test of all suspect mpox cases in the community, and identify isolation facilities in hospitals for both suspect and confirmed patients. In a letter sent to states and union territories on Monday, Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra asked them prevent any undue panic amongst the masses. Agencies NEW DELHI, Sept 9: The Supreme Court on Monday held that an accused, who is in custody in a case, is entitled to seek anticipatory bail in another matter if not arrested. A bench comprising Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra was dealing with a legal question as to whether a jailed accused is entitled to apply for the pre-arrest bail in another criminal case. “An accused is entitled to seek anticipatory bail so long as he is not arrested in relation to that offence and if he is arrested in that case also then only remedy is to apply for regular bail,” Justice Pardiwala said while pronouncing the verdict for the bench. Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Sep 9: In a major fire incident, three residential houses were gutted in Srinagar on Monday, causing extensive damage to the property, officials said. The Fire and Emergency official said that fire broke out in a residential house at Gatt Colony Noorbagh at 7 am on Monday and engulfed two other nearby houses, causing extensive damage to the first and second floors of a house and the attic portion of two houses.
