Kokernag encounter: Security forces trap 2 LeT terrorists | Helicopters hover over Gadole forests, as Army and Police maintain tight cordon | | Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, Sept 14: The operation to neutralise the terrorists involved in the encounter that led to the three security forces personnel continued for the second day on Thursday as police claimed to have “encircled” two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in the higher reaches of Anantnag district of south Kashmir.
Gunshots were heard in the Gadole forests of Kokernag in Anantnag district in the early hours of Thursday as reinforcements were rushed to the area to take down the terrorists who were believed to be hiding in a natural cave in the mountains, the officials said.
Helicopters were seen hovering over the Gadole forests as army and police personnel maintained a tight cordon around the area, the officials said.
Sounds of firing could be heard throughout the day but there were no reports of any fresh casualties.

SRINAGAR, Sept 14: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Army’s XV Corps commander Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai on Thursday paid homage to Colonel Manpreet Singh and Major Ashish Dhonchak who were martyred in an encounter with terrorists in Anantnag district.
Sinha, Lt Gen Ghai and Army officers laid wreaths on the coffins carrying the mortal remains of the two slain officers at the Badamibagh cantonment here.
