PM Modi turns 73; President, others extend wishes | | | Agencies
NEW DELHI, Sept 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 73 on Sunday, with President Droupadi Murmu and other dignitaries and politicians extending their best wishes to him.
The BJP will also launch ”Sewa Pakhwara” from today till October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, to reach out to different sections of society with a host of welfare initiatives to mark the birthday of its preeminent leader.
Extending best wishes, the President said she wished that Modi with his foresight and strong leadership paves the way for India’s development in every field during the ‘Amrit Kaal’.
Lauding him as the architect of new India, Home Minister Amit Shah said he has laid a strong foundation of a grand and self-reliant India on the basis of the country’s ancient heritage.
”Be it the party organisation or the government, we always get inspiration of national interest being supreme from Modi ji,” he said, adding that he considered it his good fortune to serve the country under such a unique leader.

Anantnag operation enters day 5 | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 17: The massive anti militancy operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district entered its fifth day on Sunday.
The operation at Gadol Kokernag Anantnag is challenging for the forces due the dense forest cover.
The Army has been using drones and high-powered shells to flush out the militants. However, so far there is no report of any militant casualty.
"The area is exceptionally confined, with dense woods on one side and a steep trench on the other," said officers involved in the operation.

Jammu, Sept 17 : Ladakh witnessed “unbelievable” changes “for the better” since the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution, Lieutenant Governor Brigadier (Retd) B D Mishra has said, exuding confidence that it would be the most developed Union Territory in the country in the next couple of years.
Mishra, who took over as Ladakh L-G in February, said his priorities include ensuring that the coming generations do not face water scarcity and creating adequate jobs for the locals, besides making Ladakh “corruption-free and delay-free”.

Jammu, Sept 17: All necessary arrangements, including a tight security cover, have been finalised for the first-of-its-kind air show by the Indian Air Force here on September 21 and 22, officials said on Sunday.
According to a defence spokesperson, the air show at Air Force Station in Jammu will have the world-renowned IAF Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT), the Akashganga Daredevil Skydiving team, Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT), Mi-17 helicopters and the IAF band.
