Srinagar, Sept 1: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Lt Governor Manoj Sinha said on Wednesday that colleges and universities will reopen after vaccinating students.
We are considering to reopen all colleges and universities once students above the age of 18 years are vaccinated, Mr Sinha told reporters on the sideline of a function at S K International Convention Centre (SKICC) on the bank of famed Dal Lake.

Srinagar, Sept 1: As there was no major maintenance work on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway on Wednesday, Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) were allowed to ply from both sides.
Meanwhile, the national highway, the only road linking Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh with Kashmir, historic 86-km-long Mughal road and Anantnag-Sinthan-Kishtwar roads are also open for traffic today. A traffic police official said that National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) is not carrying out any major maintenance today on the highway, the only road connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country. SRINAGAR, Sept 1: The Government on Wednesday informed that 110 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 16 from Jammu division and 94 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 325529. Also one Covid death has been reported from Kashmir Division.
Moreover, 120 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 29 from Jammu Division and 91 from Kashmir Division.
Besides this, 67.63 percent of population above the age of 18 years has been vaccinated across the Jammu and Kashmir.

New Delhi, Sept 1: Defence minister Rajnath Singh will on Thursday visit Gandhinagar and review the preparations for India’s flagship military exhibition, DefExpo, which is being held next year with focus on projecting India as a defence manufacturing hub, officials familiar with the development said on Wednesday. The biennial show will be held in Gandhinagar from March 11-13, 2022.
Singh will be briefed on the preparations for the event which is being planned at a time of ongoing uncertainty amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

Srinagar, Sept 2: Syed Ali Shah Geelani passes away tonight at 10 PM he was 91, on Wednesday died at his home in Kashmir Capital Srinagar.
Syed Ali Geelani was born on September 29, 1929 to Syed Peer Shah Geelani of Zoori Munz village in Tehsil Bandipora which then formed a part of Baramulla district.
