Worries ahead for BJP as West Pak refugees, OBCs feel betrayed by local leaders | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 25: Annoyed over repeated 'betrayal' by the local BJP, the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) and West Pakistani Refugees (WPRs) have warned to launch agitation if their demands were not fulfilled after October 31 when J&K will be officially converned into Union Territory (UT).
While as WPRs are annoyed over not allowing refugee youth to participate in police recruitment, there is a feeling among members OBCs of J&K that they are 'cheated and betrayed' by the local BJP leadership as there is no provision of implementing Mandal Commission report in the rules farmed for the newly carved UT.
OBCs leaders are alleging that due to caste prejudice the incumbent BJP leadership has betrayed OBCs of J&K as there is no provision in Bill passed by the Parliament to extend reservation benefits for their community in the newly formed UT.

NEW DELHI, Sept 25: Top officials of the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday discussed with Home Ministry officials on various aspects of the state Reorganisation Act and its implementation when the two union territories will come into existence on October 31, officials said.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam and Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal held a two-hour long meeting with Additional Secretary (JK Division) Gynesh Kumar on how to implement the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.
As per the Act, union territories - Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh will be created on October 31, a Home Ministry official said.

Jammu, Sept 25: The unplanned disengagement of over 1700 Plus-2 contractual lecturers working in various government schools across the state, has jeopardized the future of thousands of students, whose syllabus of several subjects is still uncovered that too at a time when the session is at its closure.
Sources informed Early Times that apart from regular faculty members, a total of 1711 Plus-2 contractual lecturers were engaged across the state, which included 752 contractual lecturers in Jammu division and 959 in Kashmir division. These Plus-2 contractual lecturers have been getting a paltry sum of Rs. 10,500 in plain areas while Rs. 14,000 in hard zone areas.

Jammu, Sept 25: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday said there is no democracy in Jammu and Kashmir and people are living in fear after the Centre scrapped the state''s special status on August 5.
Azad was talking to the media as he concluded his six-day tour of the state.
"There is disappointment in Kashmir and the despair is also prevalent among the people in Jammu province. The development comes after the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi promised to provide employment opportunity to the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
