With focus on Paharis, Shah to sound BJP’s poll bugle in J&K | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 25: Even as local BJP leaders are “downplaying” the forthcoming visit of Amit Shah as a “routine” to review developmental activities, the Union Home is going to sound the poll bugle for the maiden Assembly elections in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Venues selected by the party for two rallies to be addressed by the Union Home Minister during his visit three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir is a clear indication that the BJP is trying to woo Pahari-speaking Muslims of the Union Territory.
During his three-day visit to J&K from September 30 to October 2, Shah will address rallies in Rajouri and Baramulla districts. Both districts are dominated by Pahari-speaking people and the decision of the party to organize rallies reflects the party’s agenda to focus on this dominant ethnic group of Jammu and Kashmir.

Jammu, Sept 25: Former Congress leader and ex-Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Ghulam Nabi Azad is likely to announce the name of his new political party during the Navratras.
Azad had declared on September 11 that he would announce the name of his new political party within 10 days but the announcement missed the deadline.
“I am inviting the media on Monday before the launch of the party. I am here to meet workers and leaders,” Azad told reporters in an interaction at his residence here upon his arrival from Delhi.

Srinagar, Sept 25: Even as former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad is all set to launch his political party in the coming days, the Vice President of a Kashmir based party is in touch with the Congress rebel.
Sources said the said leader, who is also the vice President of the Party has been in touch with the former Chief Minister since almost the day the latter left the Congress in August.

Kupwara, Sept 25: The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police on Sunday killed two terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC) at Tekri Nar in the Machil area of Kupwara.
Police said that they have also recovered several arms and ammunition from the possession of these unidentified terrorists who have been killed.

New Delhi, Sept 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday announced that the Chandigarh airport will now be named after Shaheed Bhagat Singh as a tribute to the great freedom fighter.
In his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast, Modi also said that climate change is a major threat to marine ecosystems and that the litter on beaches is disturbing.
