Employees, pensioners enjoying benefits of BPL category ! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 25: Over five months after detecting nearly ten lakh bogus beneficiaries, the Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department has identified a large number of government employees who are getting subsized ration under the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category.
Taking serious note after detecting a large number of such employees, the CAPD Department has issued a warning to the government officials and pensioners holding Below Poverty Line (BPL) ration cards in Kashmir.
These employees and pensioners have been asked to surrender their BPL cards as early as possible to avoid action.
Sources said that it was all due to blunders committed during the previous regimes that many undeserving families have managed to get BPL cards while as many deserving poor families were denied BPL category due to apathic attitude of the elected representatives.

SRINAGAR, SepT 25: A special court here on Monday rejected the bail applications of 10 second-rung separatist leaders arrested on the charges of trying to revive the banned outfit Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).
Additional Sessions Judge Srinagar Sandeep Gandotra, special judge designated under the NIA Act, rejected the separatists’ pleas, saying if they were enlarged on bail at this stage, it will put to risk the interests of the public and the state.

Uttar Pradesh, Sept 25: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday inaugurated a mega drone show being hosted at the Hindon airbase here. The show Bharat Drone Shakti 2023 is being jointly organised by the Indian Air Force and Drone Federation of India (DFI).
Singh opened the mega drone show and also watched a few aerial demonstrations of the drones. Later, he also visited the exhibition area and some of the stalls.

Srinagar, Sept 25: Snowfall in higher reaches of Kashmir and rains in the plains ended a prolonged dry spell and brought down the mercury significantly in the Valley which experienced record high temperatures this month, officials said on Monday.
Moderate rains lashed most parts of the valley. Srinagar city recorded 18.3 mm of rainfall till 8.30 am on Monday. Snowfall was recorded in higher reaches of south Kashmir including around the holy cave shrine of Amarnath and Gulmarg in north Kashmir, they said.
The downpour has ended the heatwave which was witnessed in the second week of September. The Valley saw high temperatures which broke the record of 89 years.

Ghaziabad, Sept 25: The induction of C-295 aircraft “heralds a new era for the Air Force” and this fleet will in times to come become the backbone of the force’s tactical lift capability, former IAF chief Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria (retd) said on Monday.
The first C-295 medium tactical transport aircraft was inducted into the Indian Air Force in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh earlier in the day.
The induction ceremony took place at the Hindon airbase near Delhi. IAF Chief Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari was also present on the occasion.
