Jammu, Sept 29: Twenty days after serving show cause notice to senior BJP leader and former MLC Sofi Yousuf, BJP on Friday served show cause notices to eight more rebel leaders who were part of August 11 event.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Disciplinary committee issued notices to 8 party rebels in Kashmir.
The notices have been issued from party headquarters to GM Mir, Dr. Ali Mohammad Mir, Altaf Thakur, Asif Masoodi, Arif Raja, Anwar Khan, Manzoor Bhat and Bilal Parray.
“While holding an inquiry of indiscipline against Sh. Sofi Yusuf Vice President of Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party, it came to notice to the Disciplinary Committee that there are serious allegations and proof of indiscipline against each of you for indulging in activities prejudicial to maintenance of discipline in the party. By your activities a sense of mistrust have been created in party leadership”, the show cause notice reads.

New Delhi, Sept 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday expressed confidence that India will be the world's third-largest economy by 2027. Addressing the 118th Annual Session of the PHDCCI at Vigyan Bhawan here, the Home Minister urged the industry to make more investments in research and development to make MSMEs world-class.

SRINAGAR, Sept 29: The Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Sujoy Lal Thaosen, undertook a visit to Kashmir to assess operational readiness and boost the morale of personnel stationed in the region, a spokesman of the Force said on Friday.
The visit of DG CRPF comes almost two weeks after a deadly gun battle in a forest area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district that left two decorated Army officers, a deputy superintendent of police, and a jawan dead.
Two militants, including a top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander who was behind the killing of the officers, were also shot dead in the operations that lasted for a week.

Leh, Sept 29: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has now allowed foreign tourists to stay overnight in Hanle, a remote high-altitude village in Ladakh’s Changthang plateau, an official said on Friday.
Hanle, known for India’s first dark sky reserve, offers excellent stargazing conditions due to its secluded location, high altitude and minimal light pollution.

New Delhi, Sept 29: The Law Commission is working on a formula to synchronise all assembly polls by extending or reducing the tenure so that all state elections can be held along with the Lok Sabha polls 2029 onwards, sources said on Friday.
As the government has already set up a high-level panel to explore simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha, state assemblies and local bodies, the Law Commission may also be asked to include the third tier of elections along with its current mandate for national and state-level polls.

New Delhi, Sept 29: In what could be termed as one of the biggest pushes for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ in the defence sector, the Indian Air Force is going to place orders for 156 more Prachand Light Combat Helicopters, with HAL, which would be deployed at both the China and Pakistan front by the IAF and the Indian Army.
The two services have already inducted 15 of these choppers in their fleet in the last 15 months after holding trials in the most extreme weather conditions and terrain in the world.

New Delhi, Sept 29: The government on Friday raised the interest rate on five-year recurring deposit scheme to 6.7 per cent from 6.5 per cent for the December quarter and retained the rates for all other small savings schemes. According to a finance ministry circular, the interest rate on savings deposit has been retained at 4 per cent and on the one-year term deposit at 6.9 per cent.
The rates were the same during the September quarter.
The interest rate on both the two-year and three-year term deposits is 7 per cent while on the five-year term deposit, the rate is 7.5 per cent.

Kathua/Jammu, Sept 29: Two old mortar shells were found in a farm along the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Friday, officials said.
A farmer found the two live mortar shells while ploughing his farm in Patti Meru hamlet along the IB in Hiranagar sector, they said.
