Three-day Intra-College Sports meet concludes at GDC Vijaypur

JAMMU, Nov 13: Sports have been an integral part of human culture and history. Sports play a vital role in our lives. Sports improve concentration and memory, aiding in academic performance. It also reduces stress and enhances creativity. Sports are essential for our physical, mental, and social well-being. Therefore, everyone should participate in sports regularly. Students must explore the use of sports in preventing youth drug problems. One should turn back to sports and games for drug abuse prevention by creating awareness among the students and particularly in the sports events as it will help in building team spirit and overall personality development of the individual.
The three day Intra- College Sports meet organized by Government Degree College Vijaypur under the banner of 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' concluded at Government Degree College Vijaypur here today. The sports event was organised under the supervision and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Vandana Verma, Principal of the College. Intra college sports meet included both indoor and outdoor games like Cricket, Chess, Volleyball and Carrom board matches. Around 90 students participated in the different games in sports meet. In Chess competition six teams participated while there were six teams in carrom board match , two teams in cricket match and volleyball match included two teams (Red Smasher and Blue Smasher). The winners of the Carrom championship were Deepak Kumar and Jashinpreet Singh of Semester I. The Chess competition was won by Reshik Mehra of Semester III. The Volleyball game was won by team Red Samasher captained by Rahul Kumar of Semester III . The cricket match was won by team Rising Warriors captained by Sunil Kumar of Semester I. The refreshment and certificates were also presented to all the participants while the winners were awarded with the trophies.
The whole meet was organised by Dr Anoop Kumar Bhagat (Convenor, Nasha Mukt Abhiyan), Dr Manoj Heer (Convenor, Sports Committee), Dr Jan Mohd. Wani (PTI) and co-ordinated by Prof. Anita Jamwal, Prof. Mamta Gupta, Prof. Ritu Bhagat, Prof. Poonam Kundan, Dr. Naseem Chowdhary, Dr. Radhika Rasyal, Prof. Mazid Malik, Dr. Nain Singh, Dr. Gunjeet Mahiwal, Dr. Anjana Raina, Dr. Indu Koul, Prof. Manisha Rani, Prof. Madhu Bala and Dr. Priyanka Ganjoo.
