Pakal Dul power project snatches land, leaves youth jobless

JAMMU, Feb 3: Scores of residents of the Kishtwar district today held a protest support of their demands and said that the management of 1000 megawatts Pakal Dul power project should provide jobs to the children of land owners and provide compensation in lieu of land.
The protesters said that at the time of commissioning of the power project they were told that the children of land owners would be given job while as adequate compensation would be provided to the people who opt for cash relief. They said that no demand was met and there has been no headway in this regard.
The protesters said that the management should wake up to the situation and take the corrective measures at the earliest. They warned of dire consequences in case the demands are not met by the management of the power project.
