Go back to grassroots; maintain discipline, unity: Azad to workers 1/13/2015 11:21:13 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 13: Asserting that the Congress Party is seriously looking into the causes of not-so-good performance in the recently held Assembly elections, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha & Former Chief Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad urged the Party leaders and cadres to work unitedly and steadfastly for reviving and strengthening the Party. Reacting to a statement of certain Party leaders and office-bearers against the PCC leadership, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that it is only uncharitable and irrelevant but also uncalled for and unwarranted in the obtained political situation. Taking exception to the statement of the PCC leaders, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that difference of opinion is integral to any democratic political party and that the Congress Party has always encouraged dialogue and discussion, however, it is of prime importance to maintain discipline and unity at all costs. Underlining the need to maintain discipline, Azad said that howsoever serious and cogent the argument may be, it is not at all desirable to come in the open against the PCC leadership as there are avenues and fora available to all the leaders and cadres to express their views and opinion. He also called upon the Party leaders not to speak out of the way on sensitive political issues as this causes more damage and harm to the interest of the Party rather than serving any purpose. "Airing the views publicly against the PCC leadership is not going to serve the goal of reviving the fortunes of the Party", said Azad. He further said that such moves cannot be countenanced and all the leaders should work in tandem to rejuvenate the Party. "There is a need to work with zeal and determination at the grassroot level, so that we revive our base in the areas where we have lost the ground", said Azad adding that very soon a strategy will be devised and a coherent action plan will be put in place for reviving and rejuvenating the Party at all levels.
