JAMMU, Jan 13: A review meeting of all the District Treasuries and City Treasury Officers of Jammu province was held under the Chairmanship of Director General Accounts & Treasuries Altaf Hasan Mirza.
Director Accounts & Treasures, Jammu Lochan Dass, representatives of J&K Bank Ltd, NIC Jammu, Sales Tax Department and AG office also participated in the meeting.
Mirza at the very outset said that efficient functioning of the treasury reflects good image of the government and emphasized the need for strict adherence to the norms, guidelines, instructions issued by the government from time to time.
He said the Treasury Officers should strictly adhere to the Treasury Code as the treasuries are the financial face of the government and custodian of the public exchequer. The behaviour of the Treasury Officers should be very congenial and polite towards the general public, he added.
Besides, the Director General Accounts & Treasuries briefly spoke on some of the important issues concerning the treasuries, of which, the foremost was long lingering implementation of computerization of the treasuries. He enquired form NIC the latest status of computerization in Jammu province. He pulled up the District Treasury Officers who are lagging behind in computerization of their treasuries and showed displeasure on the performance of NIC.
He instructed all the Treasury Officers to complete this long lingering process of computerization at war footing. He emphasized upon all the DTOs to have a complete liaison with their Sub Treasuries and ensure successful implementation of Treasury net application without any further delay.
Lastly, he advised all the participated Treasury Officers to strictly adhere to the instruction/guidelines issued by the Finance Department from time to time, adding that violations if noticed shall be dealt sternly.
