Jammu, May 6: 21st Annual week long sports meet of Dogra College of Education was inaugurated on May 6 wherein Gulchain Singh Charak, Chairman Dogra Educational Trust was the Chief Guest who declared the Annual sports meet open in the College premises. According to press release, during the inaugural ceremony few exhibition matches were played which included Kho Kho, Three Leg Race, Sack Race, Matka Race, One Leg Race, Crocodile Race, 100 mt Race and Tug of War. The week long sports meet will have sports competitions like Volley ball, Basket Ball, Badminton, Athletics, Shot Put, Kho Kho, Table Tennis, Carom and Chess and others. While, speaking on the occasion, chief guest stressed that apart from imparting academic knowledge to the students, various physical activities must also be encouraged for their overall development. He also emphasized that such type of sports events will go a long way in developing over all personality of the students. Earlier, the Programme started with the lighting of traditional lamp followed by the welcome address by Mr Sumer Singh, Convener Sports Committee. He emphasized that sports could play a major role in promoting and propagating peace with an understanding of the spirit of global participation and philosophy of sports. Among those who were attended the function included Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary, Dogra Educational Trust, Prof. BD Damral Director cum Principal Dogra College of Education, Shefali Sharma, Vice Principal, Bela Thakur, Academic co-coordinator of the College. |
