Anganwadi workers continue protest, demand revocation of 'termination order'

JAMMU, May 6: A large number of Anganwadi workers and helpers under the banner of J&K Trade Union Front continued their protest on the 5th consecutive day at protest venue in front of Press Club Jammu against the anti working class and anti Anganwadi worker, helper and demanding revocation of termination order of some of their colleagues by State Mission Director ICDS, J&K Jammu vide his order No 13 SMD of 2015 dtd 22/04/2015
Protesters amidst slogans criticized Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) authorities, for issuing such unjustified order through which large numbdr Anganwadi workers and helpers have been terminated while they have been working in the ICDS for the last more than 10 years and have got departmental training of anganwadi workers for three months and also other required courses in the ICDS wing and are continuing their services till date. Gaffoor Dar State President J&K Trade Union Front condemned the callous attitude of the state government particularly the concerned minister for failing to see through the miseries of working class especially the poor Anganwadi workers and helpers by terminating them.
He appealed to the Chief Minister and concerned Minister to intervene personally in the matter to save these poor workers from this termination order. Mr Dar also informed that High Court has given interim relief for three weeks to the 121 workers and helpers working in ICDS Jammu who were petitioners and further appealed to all the anganwadi workers and helpers of the state to remain united and hold protest at all the district headquarters to pressurize the state govt for immediate withdrawal of the termination order of workers and helpers. Besides Gafoor Dar other trade union activists who addressed the protest included Smt Mehjabeen, Rajinder Kumar, Smt Suman, Rachna, Sunita, Princy Bhatt, Bilwinder Kaur, Smt Zaida Akhter, Aruna, Komal, Shahida Parveen, Naida, Aruna, Vikramjeet Singh and others.
