Asks Mantris to remain accessible to PDP activists, common man | Mehbooba appoints Mansoor as her advisor | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 6: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti has decided to pave the way for ground level workers to remain in touch with the government. Sources told Early Times the party president decided to do so after people protested against the absence of an influential MLA of the party, who is also a minister, and workers complained that they were being 'ignored'. Following the development Mehbooba Mufti decided to appoint Peerzada Mansoor, as her political advisor, tasked to liaison with the government and also to ensure that her directions are implemented. The PDP president is one of the most important political post in the state as the party is heading the present coalition government in JK. The party president, who could be the next CM, has worked hard by moving on ground to ensure that PDP forms the government in the state. She understands that it's the worker on the ground who acts as bridge between the party and the common man. If worker feels ignored then party's popularity could witness a decline. "Congress president has publicly acknowledged that internal rift and ignoring the workers were most important reasons for the defeat of the party, which was defeated by BJP or PDP," said a senior party leader, wishing not to be quoted. The PDP, like BJP, is trying to gear up the party workers ahead of the local bodies elections, which are on cards. "The National Conference has already hitting the streets on the issue of recruitment policy and criticizing the party for aligning with the BJP. The resurgent Congress, which had established itself in the Kashmir, has already decided to go in the electioneering mode for these polls, so the party president decided to take this decision sensing the ground situation," said the leader. Mebooba Mufti, being close to the ground, knows that party cadre has to be galvanized ahead of the elections and make him or her important to ensure that that not only party remains nimble footed but the work of common man is done at the earliest. "NC has a strong cadre base and it is a challenge, even if the party is down. So Mehbooba is trying to build the same cadre base across the state and for it she is ensuring that ministers remain accessible to common people and the party activists," said a close aide of the PDP president |
