PULWAMA, Feb 20: Clashes erupted in Narbal Newa village of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Tuesday aftersecurity forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in the area.
A witness said that youth took to streets and clashed with forces after the CASO was launched today evening.
"A group of locals resorted to stone-pelting to disrupt the CASO. However, forces responded by lobbing teargas shells, triggering clashes," said an eye witness.
Jammu & Kashmir police, Army's Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) had jointly launched the operation.
An official said that the search operation was launched after specific inputs about the presence of militants there. |
