Family of deceased stages protest, alleges murder

Jammu, Feb 24: Family members of deceased along with locals today staged protest at Bagh-e-Bahu alleging that the deceased was murdered by the shopkeeper with whom he had long pending dispute.
Police sources said that Mohan Lal (35) son of Om Parkash of Kalka Colony Bawe was admitted in Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) after getting injuries when he was riding a scooter which was hit by a motorcycle at Kalka Colony.
Today during treatment, Mohan succumbed to his injuries and later after post-mortem the body was handed over to family members for last rites. Family members along with locals staged protest at Bawe with the body of deceased and alleged that the deceased had old dispute with a shopkeeper and the case is pending in the court of law. The deceased was running a fruit rehari outside a shopkeeper with whom dispute case was pending from last over one year, told protestors.
They further alleged that the shopkeeper murdered him and demanded inquiry in this connection.
Police said that the motorcyclist escaped after hitting the scooter and the owner of the motorcycle is in police custody.
Protestors were pacified only when police detained shopkeeper for questioning.
