| JKNPP seeks probe into destruction, smuggling of Forest wealth | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 4: A delegation of JKNPP led by Paramjit Singh Marshall President Trade Union cell of JKNPP and Parshotam Parihar State Secretary today submitted a memorandum to PCCF at Van Bhawan Jammu alleging massive damage of Forest wealth and smuggling of huge deodar sleepers in Forest Division Billawar and Forest Division Ramnagar.
Apprising the concerned authorities at Van Bhawan about the loot and plunder of Forest wealth by Forest mafia, they accused the officials concerned of colluding with vested interests in the process. Paramjit Marshall said that one Mushtaq Ahmed a Forester in Basantgarh range, who is a local of the area had caused huge destruction of conifer trees which was widely reported and covered by the local media. He said that in pursuance of public complaints, the investigating agencies had raided his residence three days back and recovered 48 deodar scants. He regretted that no action was taken against the delinquent in view of involvement of several high ups in the scam of such a huge magnitude. The said Mushtaq was suspended and attached earlier also in 2016-17 on charges of deodar smuggling, said Marshall. But being well connected and enjoying patronage of corrupt officers and politicians, he was re-instated within days and posted back in his home locality where he had executed the said scam of such gargantuan proportions. He said that there were several other cases of encroachment of Forest land facilitated by the local MLA R.S Pathania who was openly supporting the irregular practices of such mafia. |
