| The Baluchistan hisb torically possesses a different political status form the other princely states situated in British India. Its independence struggle is not new that has been continuing since the partition of British India i.e. 15th August 1947 soon after emerging Pakistan on the horizon of the world.
The Baluch sardars of their different jirgas (communities) had decided to merge their territory with Pakistan subject to the bond of agreement made with the Pak-leaders, where in Muslim league leader M A Jinnah had agreed to recognize its same present political status as had already been enjoying after partition but after partition Jinnah, who was then Pak-Governor General had evaded and reluctant to carry on the spirit of assurance and agreement, resulting in starting simmering of tantrum and resentments against the Pak-ruling leaders.
Baluchistan by following coerced measures annexed militarily by Pakistan on 1st April 1948, that was considered four princely states of Kalat-Lasbela, Kharran and Mokran. There two were fiduciary estates placed and suzerainty of Khan of Kalat-B the British Government.
These two estates every year celebrates 11th August as Independence Day of Baluchistan. Moreover it till date fearlessly fighting to get back, its estates from Pakistan, but in return Pak-committed worst type of brutal atrocities and gag their voice of independence. In that its slavery, they are suffocating and helpless.
That territory is immensely rich in natural resources and minerals Pak-exports natural Gas, and gets a good return but out of that revenue which it fetches nothing share among Baluch people, due to which the people of Baluch wee deprived. Therefore they are backward in all respects.
Soon before the partition of British India, M A Jinnah, president of All India Muslim League promised Kalat ruler and the Baluch leaders to recognize the same political status which they had being enjoyed during rule, but after the partition he changed his outlook and could not keep his promise and commitment in action resulting in eruption of brute bickering against Pakistan, which is still continue.
Pakistan by considering the Baluch people as an its enemy therefore it kept away an arm length to include in its administration and did not divert its attention to explore natural resources for their economic developments and put them in the quagmire of backwardness, which its policy is continue till now, so much so its territory was handover to China for the construction of economic corridor and Gawadar port under particular agreement without taking into their confidence at their political cost and put them on sideline resulting in unrest and killings through Chinese army resulting in reveal up of great theatre of devastation under the nose of United Nation because it had a legal obligation to warn Pakistan for the purpose to restore peace and harmony which was needed for serious consideration.
In fact the Baluch National struggle has continued since the time of Khan of Kalat Mir Ahmed who established his empire in 1666 under Mir Naser Khan-I in 1758 who accepted Afghan paramountcy. Meanwhile, Khan was killed under conspiring British strategy, as the British imperialism was resign to engulf India, Afghanistan and Baluchistan politically. So much so, the ruling Britishers had mediating a dispute in 1869 between the Khan of Kalat and Sardars of Baluchistan and established British primacy in the region but the confusion of their political status had remained in their minds of Sardars.
In 20th Century Baluch Sardars restarted their national movement under the banner of Anjuman-e-Baluchistan in 1931 against the British government to throw out the yoke of British slavery which was banned in 1939 and paved the other woay for the formation of new political party namely Baluchistan Muslim League allied to Muslim league in June 1939, and Anjuman-Wattan allied to the Indian National Congress in the same year. The Mir Ahmed Khan, the reular of Kalat state under the influence of Jinnah's advocacy it had agreed on 4th August 1947, that the Kalat state would be an independent state enjoying the same status as it had been enjoying originally in 1838 under British rule. An agreement was signed with Pakistan, Agreeing that Kalat was an independent state, with the same status as it had in British government.
The Pak rulers deceptively hatched a conspiracy to evade to carry on the spirit of the agreement referred to above into action. Therefore, in 1956 they very cleverly enacted a new constitution of one unit concepts with the result of that the various small states Baluchistan had dissolved and merged with the West Pak province under one unit. At that time, Ahmed Yar Khan, the then Khan of Kalat state in 1958 which was the largest former Baluch Princely state, suppressed three years before organized a rebellion to secede from west Pakistan resulting in Pak-army took control of Kalat state with its might, and arrested the Khan of Kalat for seditious charges which was followed by martial law. In retaliation the agitation was headed by Sher Mohd Bijran Marri along with likeminded sardars organized guerrilla warfare from 1963 -69 with the tailoring mengal and Marri along with Bugti from tribal area. Consequent open the resentment and revolt Pak concellor its one unit policy which led the recognition of Baluchistan as the fourth province of Pakistan including all the Baluch princely states.
It was through treachery deceit and fraud, Pak unreliable rulers grabbed Baluchistan. Saddam Hussain of Iraq supported their agitation through their national leaders who had already been living in Iraq and Iran by supplying weapons for befitting reply to Pakistan. Earlier in 1969 those national leaders had built their network with American intelligence agency against Pakistan. By looking into Pak-resentment, to Hamid Karzai, Agghanistan also against aiding those leaders against it.
With the result of that Pak-forces operation was started in 1973. In retaliation, the Baluchistan republic liberation front with the cooperation of Marri and Mengal, tribal freedom fighters, had established for guerrilla warfare against Pakistan. Thereafter, the Baluch leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti and Mir Baluch Marri presented a 15 point agenda to Pak government in 2005. Later on, in 2006, after searching Pak had killed Nawab Bugti with brutal way. In 2009, the Baluch national movement, president Ghulam Mohd Baluch along with two other eputed leaders Jala Munir and Sher Mohd were picked up by Pak amy, whose bullet saddled bodies were recovered which retaliated the people for demonstration and cavil resistance in whole Baluchistan that freedom movement was against the Pak-government for forcing its annexation, which is still continue.
Pak brutal supersession on these people has been a continuing feature since its birth. On that very issue Khan of Kalat pointed out that Baluchistan historically possessed a status different from other princely states in British India. It was viewed by all India Muslim League President MA Jinah agreed to retain its status in standstill political position, but it could not have strict to its promise and continued harsh discriminating treatment. The Baluch national leaders continued their fighting for freedom against Pakistan since 1948, afterwards in 1958, then 1962-63 and in 1970, Iraq president Saddam Hussein supported their agitation besides their other national leaders who had been living in Iran whom weapons were supplied to face the Pak challenge who earlier in 1969, had built their network with American intelligence agency for their strong hold for fighting with Pak rulers. By looking into Pak resenting to Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan against aiding these leaders and advised to reframe to help these Baluch leaders.1973-74 again started in 2003, which is continued till now at the cost of their blood?
Apart from that, Pak deprived them of all development issue and exploited them from their natural resources as well as unbridle China movement in their region on the issue of China Pak economic corridor construction without taking them into confidence for that their grabling territory one after other and to recognize inferior and slave to force live under its dark age slavery. On the other side, China has 'eagle eye' on Baluchistan also as it is strategically important for its business purpose as well as a rich in natural resources, and that Pak occupied territory was selected by it to conduct nuclear test in 1998, with China's support. The fighting was fierce and in two years of operations, the Pak forces had been involved. The heights of operation up to 60,000 were involved in the fighting. It was generally admitted that the Pak forces including Air Forces suffered losses of over3,000 men killed and thousands more injured.
In the light of that 'Tit for Tat' revolt Bhutto and Shah of Iran held a meeting in 1974. At that meeting the Shah of Iran not only urged Bhutto to intensify his operations against us, therefore Pak more powerful Air force helicopters to kill the Baluch leader along with people. A full fledged army operation from the ground and air had going the Pak forces had cut off supplies. Tens of thousands of people wee being forced to fight a desperate battle for survival informed Atlaulla Mengal and Wali Khan proclaimed that there was a diabolical design to push the provinces of the Frontier and Baluchistan out of the Pakistan by bullying, harassing coercing humiliating starving and killings. Pak was adamant to crush, over whelm these national Baluch leaders resulting in removing them from the scene. The Baluch Gandhi Abdus Samad Achakzal was murdered in Quetta in December 1973. There after Deputy Speaker Baluch Legislative Assembly, Maulvi Mohd Sham-ud-din was also killed. The climax of that series of killings appeared when former Chief Minister Attaullah Mengal's son Asadullah was also shot dead in Karachi. The chain of killing of Baluch popular leaders were killed one after other but no one taken into task. The members of the legislative assembly were arrested and others press-ganged to give a semblance of legitimacy to the new majority, which was cooked up to form a government. The level of killings of opposite leaders who so ever raise his head was killed like a bird to crunch their freedom struggle, which is still continued. |
