Being part of the Coalition Government in the state of Jammu and Kashmir led by the Chief Minster Mufti Mohmmed Sayeed in 2015 and after his sudden death his daughter Mehbooba Mufti since 2016, BJP is feeling helpless in defending the cause of the Jammuites. In the J&K Assembly elections -2014, people of the Jammu region gave them the massive mandate to project their problems faithfully in the corridors of powers but painfully, it is to submit that it has failed like anything in all the fronts after coming to power in coalition with the Kashmir centric party - PDP. It is totally unfortunate resulting which the demand for an independent "STATE HOOD" for "JAMMU" is presently cropping up in the entire Jammu Division. All over Jammu Division, a sort of law lessness and the unrest is prevailing at the moment as the people of the Jammu region are on the streets and are holding the protest demonstrations almost everyday against the State Government led by the Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti. According to them, a separate "JAMMU STATEHOOD" is the only solution to their main problem of discrimination which will be considered as the "Panacea for all the diseases", which at present they are facing in the unit one state i.e. Jammu and Kashmir.
Certainly, it is a case pertaining to the subject - RESEARCH. The word between Jammu ---- Kashmir i.e. "AND" is a significant word which conveys something else. Not only this, if one go by the topography of the areas of Jammu and Kashmir - Peer Panjal mountain divides the two Divisions - Jammu as also Kashmir. This means that the nature has already decided their faith separately. Peer Panjal is the divider in this regard. It is a matter of great importance which may be studied by the research scholars deeply. There is no shortage of the research scholars in this great country. They should apply their minds cooly and work on it. Pertinent to mention here that in the past the successive governments in the state had appointed the various Commissions for studying the levels of discrimination with Jammu specifically and after having studied the various aspects of discrimination with Jammu by the Kashmiri Rulers of the state and they submitted their reports to the State Governments for implementing their recommendations for the redressal of the grievances of the people of Jammu region as a whole. But all in vain, rather the State Governments of the past put these reports in the dustbins in the Civil Secretariat without caring for the repercussions on this score. Prominent Commissions were:-
1. Gajendergadkar commission
2. Sikri Commission
3. Rangarajan Panel etc. etc.
Taking their recommendations otherwise, Governments in the state in the past move swiftly in discriminating Jammu more and more detrimental to the cause of Jammuites.
Not only this, BJP (whose base is erstwhile Jan Sangh / RSS) which always exploited the Jammuites for their petty interests and without caring for their (Jammuites) welfare and benefits, its leadership and the Cabinet Ministers in the present Coalition Government in the state led by the Chief Minster Mehbooba Mufti continued to side with the Kashmiri Rulers and at the cost of Jammuites accepted their leadership just for the lust of power and treated themselves as the subordinates of the Ministers from the other side. This is totally shameless on their part.
In the past lacs of crores of rupees have been pumped into the state of Jammu and Kashmir by the Government of India out of the tax payers hard earned money across the country from time to time but it is unfortunate that the Central Government cannot win the hearts of the valley people who always stood for the Pakistani Rulers and want to get rid of India and continued to do the wrong things resulting which the state has landed into the given situation which is considered as the worst at the moment. Almost all the subjects of the valley are demanding Azadi and the misguided youths have took the guns into their hands and are revolting against the Indian Army and security forces . They are not even sparing the innocents there in the valley and finish them without any fault of theirs.
Jammu region is always discriminated at the hands of the Kashmiri Rules from time to time which is a bad luck for the people living there in . Jammu has not achieved anything so easy and if achieved something, that too with the hard struggle indeed. For getting the benefits by the people of the Jammu region under the parliamentary democracy, is not so easy from the State Government but on the contrary the State Government continued to please the militants and their outfits as also to follow the appeasement policy of the state for appeasing the militants. This is a very serious matter which need to be probed thoroughly by the GOI.
Truth always comes on the lips. This exactly happened with Syed Mohammed Mufti, while taking the oath as the Chief Minister of the Jammu and Kashmir at the Oath ceremony held at the Zoravar Singh Auditorium, Jammu University in 2015 in the presence Prime Minister of the country Narender Modi. Having took the oath as the Chief Minister of the state, speaking on the occasion, he thanked the Hurriyat Group led by SAS Geelani and stated that the J&K Legislative Assembly elections -2014 could not have been possible without the support of the Hurriyat Amalgamation. He expressed his pleasure on this score and further stated that we are here because of them only. This was totally shameless. What does it mean? So many questions arise out of the same. But it is sorry to state that PM Modi who specifically came from New Delhi for attending the said function and even did not comment on it and remained seated there as a silent spectator in the Oath ceremony. This means that he too, fall in line with them which is very unfortunate.
Next day, the print and the electronic media of the country as also the International media carried the stories on the same from where the countrymen observed and made the protests. The media reported that as to how Mufti Mohammed Sayeed referred about the Hurriyat Group led by SAS Geelani in this important event which always played in the hands of the Pakistani Rulers.
After having participated in the Jammu - Poonch agitation in 1977 strongly and seen about the working of the then State Government generally dominated by the Kashmiri Rulers, Prof. Bhim Singh had thought for floating his own political party during those days of struggle, who later formed the party under the name and style as National Panthers Party with its head quarter at Jammu and became its Chief . Prof. Bhim Singh is an expert in representing and defending the cases pertaining to the fundamental rights granted to the countrymen under the Indian Constitution. Not only this, he fought many a cases of the subjects of this land and others in the Apex Court and succeeded in getting the relief from the said court. With the passage of time , his party gained the momentum and succeeded in fetching four assembly seats in the J&K Legislative Assembly. In 2002, his party made an alliance with PDP and remained as one of the partners in Mufti's government. Harshdev Singh and Yashpal Kundal became as the ministers in Mufti's Cabinet up to 2005.
Prof. Bhim Singh later became the Patron in Chief of the National Panthers Party with the becoming of Harshdev Singh as the President. These days, they are in opposition without any strength in the J&K Legislative Assembly. Very recently, the Panthers celebrated their foundation day on March 23 at Jammu.
No doubt, they are not in power but one thing is certain that they are playing their roles effectively in raising all the issues of the public importance. They have broken the citadel of BJP as the people at large part their ways from BJP.
It is important to mention here that right from the student days, Prof. Bhim Singh always remained active and in the limelight in Jammu region as also on the political front. After doing the Bar at Law, he started his practice and in between he got the job of a Professor in Jammu university in Law Department. Before that assignment, he travelled across the World and came into contact with many a World leaders amongst whom Yasar Arafat of PLO was his good friend. For some time, he remained in the Congress also and later left it because of the ideological differences. Presently his party is vert much in the political field of Jammu region particularly and making for it to replace BJP whose leadership has become the puppet of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti rather BJP leaders bowed before PDP in all the fronts. These days because of the inactions of BJP, a political vacuum is there to represent the Jammuites since the Coalition Government of which it is a partner, has failed on all the fronts. National Panthers Party has demanded for the imposition of the Governor's Rule in the state of Jammu and Kashmir which according to me is not the ultimate solution problems of Jammu.
Its demand for the separate state for Jammu is justified as it is considered as the "Panacea for the all the diseases" ailed Jammu region. In simple words it can be said that National Panthers Party took the birth for this cause only in the interests of the Jammuites. Here it is important to mention that the State government has already withdrawn all the challaned cases / FIRs against the stone pelters of Kashmir valley where as FIRs against Jammuites registered during Amarnath row have not been withdrawn as yet which is a serious matter for concern for all of us . Now, on the contrary, being unfit , BJP and its allies want the intervention of the statutory head of the state - the Governor with whom they have already met a fortnight ago but again it is totally unfortunate that the State Government headed by the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti doesn't care for the instructions imparted by the Governor of the state. Not only this, all the political parties in the state are crying against the State government which has failed on all the fronts to mitigate the people sufferings at large.
Based upon the above mentioned lines of this article, the demand for the separate STATE HOOD for JAMMU is totally justified very much. Now because of the national policy of the Central Government led by Prime Minister Narender Modi, why Jammu be made as a scape goat without any specific reason. The civil societ , trade organizations Jammu chamber of commerce and industry should also apply their minds coolly on this important issue for being united fully for the establishment of a full fledged state for Jammu. If Telangana (From Andhra Pradesh) Utrakhand (From UP) Chhatisgarh (from Bihar) can be made as the Independent states of the Indian Union, then why JAMMU CAN'T ?
This is a 'Big question mark'. Kindly take the answer from your own heart and soul and act accordingly in the interests of the Jammuites.
