Sikh Unity Forum stages protest against NEET authorities

Jammu, May 8: All J&K Sikh Unity Forum held a strong protest against the NEET authorities. It is reportedly said that students of Sikh and Muslim community were restrained to enter into examination hall with "Holy Kirpan" and "Hijab". Protest was led by Avjot Singh, State President of All J&K Sikh Unity Forum (Student Wing). Hundreds of students joined the protest outside Jammu University and condemned the act of NEET authorities. Students demanded l strict action against authorities. Avjot Singh, addressing the crowd said that this act is direct attack on their faith and religion. As this is fundamental right of Sikh Community to carry out "Kirpan" anywhere. He also added that they will not tolerate these anti-religious acts. Further briefing to the press he said that, students with "Kirpan" and "Hijab" restrained from entering into examination hall which led to serious sense of disappointment among students. Many student refused to attend the examination and did not entered into examination hall.
Avjot Singh demanded, direct intervention of HRD Minister and CM Mehboba Mufti into the matter. He also demanded to conduct the examination again of those students who have not given the entrance due to disrespectful behavior of authorities. In a statement Ranjodh Singh, All J&K Sikh Unity Forum, vice president (Student Wing) said that Govt and Authorities need to ensure us that in future these acts will not happen.
