Stolen items worth Rs 5 lakh recovered, one held

With the arrest of a thief and recovery of stolen items worth Rs 5 lakh from his possession, Gandhi Nagar police today claimed to have cracked a theft case.
Police spokesman said that on April 24 of 2018, one Kulbir Singh of Nanak Nagar Jammu lodged a written complaint that one Manmeet Singh of Model Town bigiana Jammu stole cash Rs 16000 and gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees from his house when he was out of his house along with his family.
Acting on the complaint a case under FIR No. 92/2018 under sections 454 and 380 of RPC was registered at Gandhi Nagar police station and investigation was started.
“In order to work out the case a team of officers/officials of Gandhi Nagar police station was constituted for arresting the accused and due to the hectic efforts of the team accused namely Manmeet Singh of Model Town Digiana was arrested”, said spokesman adding that on his disclosure stolen gold ornaments i.e. gold chains 3 Nos, bangles 02 Nos, locket 01 No., earrings 01 pair weighing around 15 Gms amounting to Rs 5 Lakhs (Approx.) was recovered.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Inspector Sunil Singh Jasrotia, SHO Gandhi Nagar assisted by SI Kali Charan under the supervision of SDPO City South, Rafiq Manhas, SP City South Sandeep Choudhary and SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta.
