'Stop making jumla in public, allot 5 marla plots to border residents': Manjit Singh
6/13/2018 10:45:51 PM
Early Times Report
Vijaypur, June 13: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary Manjit Singh Tuesday said if Government fails to protect live and properties of border residents, they have no right to continue rule in Jammu and Kashmir. The former minister, as per a press statement, visited border village like Chak Paras in Panchayat Rangoor (Ramgarh) situated on extreme border.
Expressing his concern over repeated violation of cease fire by Pakistan, he said, the enemy country has not kept its promises which it made during DGMO or local sector commander level meetings on the International Level.
"The Pakistan, which needs to be taught a tough lesson, has become aggressive because of failure of the Modi Govt to deal with the aggression of the neighbor," he expressed his serious reservation at the failure of the foreign policy.
He further said, "The losses which we have suffered in recent years was more than India suffered in 1971 or 1965 wars with Pakistan. It shows that the Government has completely collapsed and hence, it has lost faith of the people to continue."
Manjit Singh said that the border residents are brave and often work shoulder-to-shoulder with the defense forces whenever there is hostile atmosphere on the border but they usually find themselves helpless in the absence of any support from the Government.
"Had Congress been in Govt, we would have taken strongest step to teach them a lesson. But unfortunately, Prime Minister Narinder Modi has kept mum and there is no response from the Government keeping the border people and border security force in fix," he added.
When it comes to five marla plot for each border family, he said, the BJP tries to escape questions and now they have developed a new propaganda to construct community halls with the approval of union government for border residents.
"It is not workable. The people want plots in safer places not community halls. A wrong impression is being created that people have now changed their demands. Govt must fulfil its promise by providing five marla plots to each border resident family. If they cannot do so, they should step down and contest a fresh election in Jammu and Kashmir," he said.
