Jammu, June 13: Natraj Natya Kunj, Jammu today performed Hindustani play "Gagan Damama Bajyo" written by Piyush Mishra.
The play was presented under the direction of Abhishek Bharti at Tagore Theatre Chandigarh in Jammu & Kashmir Festival organized by North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala in collaboration with Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Akademi.
This play is based on the life and ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. The play highlights the fact that, though the British rule had ended, yet another form of tyranny has begun.
The play starts in 1965 in Delhi where Battukeshwar Dutt, a comrade, is hospitalized and Markand Trivedi asks him "Is today's India is really the India of Bhagat Singh's dream". The story of play then goes in flashback to 1921 and ends in 1994 in Kanpur, where Shiv Verma, another comrade, is alive. "Gagan Damama Bajyo" highlights the ideological learning of Bhagat Singh and also tries to project his thinking pattern. Director of the play, very creatively portrayed prototype of socio- political scene of Modern India against the background of Bhagat Singh's Martyrdom.
What made "Gagan Damama Bajyo" a class act, was its superb presentation, grilled with excellent acting by the participating crew which includes - Akshay Razdan, Kanav Sharma, Amandeep Sharma, Abhishek Sharma, Mukesh Bakshi, Rakesh Dogra, Niharika Shakshi, Hema Shivgotra, Karan Mehra, Manik Sharma, Surbhi Balgotra, Abbas Ali Alikoo, Tejan Bharti, & Pranav Sharma. Sets were designed by Kanwar Iqbal, Lights by Pawan Kumar, Make-Up by Manoj Dhamir Shammi, Music by Surinder Singh Manhas, Choreography by Romit Sawhney.
The melodious songs were sung by Surinder Singh Manhas, Nirbhay Singh Salathia, Marina Manhas & Monika Sharma and play was assisted by Aaditya Bharti.
