Early Times Report

SRINAGAR, July 5: More than two weeks have passed ever since the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) government came to an end in the state but still then the government departments continue to dish out wrong information.
Department of Sericulture is no different from the other government departments on this regard.
The official website of the department continues to befool the people by claiming that the PDP-BJP government is very much intact. Even if the government is intact the information is still wrong.
According to the official website of Department of Sericulture, Ghulam Nabi Lone (Hanjura) is the Minister of Agriculture of Jammu & Kashmir. At the same time the website informs that Mohammad Afzal Bhat is the Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production Department (APD).
It would be in place to mention here that PDP-BJP came to an abrupt but expected end on June 19 and as such there is no minister of agriculture in Jammu & Kashmir as on date.
As such the information that Lone is the agriculture minister is wrong. The information is wrong in other respect as well.
Weeks before the fall of state government Lone was replaced by Mohammad Khalil Bandh as the Minister for Agriculture. While Bandh was made the agriculture minister, Lone (Hanjura) was given the charge of revenue ministry. However, the person appointed to update the official website of sericulture department has failed to make the necessary changes.
At the same time Bhat retired from the government services on March 31, 2018 and he no longer holds any chair in the state. His last posting was Commissioner Secretary, Agriculture Production Department. Since his retirement he has been replaced by at least two officers, but still then the necessary changes have not been made.
One fails to understand that if any person is entrusted with the responsibility of updating the information on department website then why wrong information is dished out to the people.
Action needs to be taken against the designated employee and the higher ups also need to be reprimanded for lackadaisical attitude.
