Jammu, July 30: In continuation to operation 'Sanjeevani', a special drive against drugs launched by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jammu Vivek Gupta, today Manwal Police arrested two persons and recovered 30 Kg Poppy Straw (Bhukki) from their possession. Police spokesman said that today during a routine naka at Manwal, Jhajjar Kotli, one Maruti car was signalled to stop for police checking, but the driver of the vehicle on seeing the Police, tried to break the naka in order to flee from the spot. "The vehicle was chased and apprehended by the alert cops and during search of the vehicle, 30 Kgs poppy straw was recovered from his possession', said spokesman adding that in this regard, a case under FIR No. 72/2018 under section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli police station and further investigation of the case is going on. "During questioning, they disclosed that they had brought the consignment from Srinagar for selling the same among the youth in Jammu area to earn illegitimate profit. More recoveries are expected as there is every possibility of involvement of more persons. The arrest and recovery was made by SI Suresh Sharma-In-charge Police Post Manwal, Inspector Ajay Jamwal-SHO Jhajjar Kotli under the supervision of DySP Yashbir Singh-SDPO Nagrota, and Dushyant Sharma SP Rural Jammu. |
