JAMMU, July 30: An employee of Public Health and Engineering (PHE) department allegedly murdered his wife and tried to end his life this evening at his official quarter at Tube Well near Paloura falling under the jurisdiction of Nowabad police station.
The deceased has been identified as Nisha wife of Ashok Kumar, resident of Ramnagar, presently staying at quarter at Tube Well near Paloura.
Police sources said that both had some arguments over a pity issue following which the husband attacked his wife with an iron rod on her head resulting severe injuries to her.
She was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) where she was declared as dead.
"After attacking his wife, Ashok Kumar tried to end his life by electrocution but the moment he touched the electric transformer, the fuse blasts resulting breakage of circuit", said police sources adding that he was admitted in GMC&H for treatment.
Police shifted the body of the deceased to the mortuary of the hospital for autopsy and other legal formalities. A case in this connection has been registered and further investigation of the case is going on. |
