To support BJP, Congress MLA holds secret talks with Sajjad Lone
8/12/2018 11:04:15 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 12: Amid total chaos over who could be the next Chief Minister of the state in prospective alliance with the Bharatiya Janta Party, a Congress leader allegedly held secret talks with Sajjad Lone.
Sources said the Congress MLA who enjoys goodwill in his constituency held "secret talks" with the Peoples Conference Chairman.
Sources said the Congress leader was impressed by the support gained by Sajjad from the rebel group of the PDP headed by Imran Reza Ansari.
Sources said after the meeting of the 14 rebel MLAs from the PDP with Sajjad, the Congress leader also showed willingness to support them.
Sources said the MLA has told Sajjad that he would make many more of his colleagues join the rebel group and support the Bharatiya Janta Party "provided his personal interests are kept into consideration."
It was reliably learnt that Sajjad is keen in keeping all the potential rebels in good humor and is willing to negotiate with them on their terms and conditions.
Surprise developments have started taking place with regard to formation of a new government in the state where the Peoples Democratic Party and the Bharatiya Janta Party parted ways on June 19 when the latter pulled out of the alliance.
Whereas BJP's point man on Kashmir and senior leader Ram Madhav made a surprise visit to valley, he held another round of talks with the Sajjad Lone.
A day after that meeting 14 MLAs from the PDP called on the PC head to discuss formation of new government.
While the news broke about fifty percent of the PDP MLAs willing to support to Sajjad, the next day Ram Madhav gave a statement that his party was willing to form government.
He said the BJP will be a part of the government in the future, as the "jinx" of having never been in power in the state has been broken.
"I say with confidence that whenever the government is again formed in Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP will be a part of it," Ram Madhav said, adding that the "jinx is broken".
At an event in New Delhi, Madhav said when the BJP comes back to power, it would work towards taking Jammu and Kashmir to a new direction.
Talking about the PDP-BJP coalition government that collapsed in June, Ram Madhav said there were difficulties, but despite that, some things were achieved.
Despite repeated attempts the Congress MLA in question couldn't be contacted for comments.
