| NH closed, landslides at different locations | | |  Tahir Mushtaq

RAMBAN, Aug 13: The vehicular traffic between Jammu and Srinagar remained disrupted due to the landslide at several places in Seri area of Ramban for nine hours today. According to Traffic Police sources, the landslides were triggered by the early morning rainfall around 5 am today.
It resulted into the big traffic snarl on both ends of the blocked stretch. Hundreds of trucks, load carriers and passenger vehicles were seen stranded on a long stretch on the highway since wee hours. Due to the landslides at several places and fresh recurring landslides in the area it took the limited number of available machineries a long time to clear the debris from the road by 2 pm. today.
Many persons especially the office goers and the students were seen crossing the stretch by foot and covering long distances to reach their destinations. |
