Association of Numberdars calls on NCP Chief | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Aug 13: Association of Numberdars of Tehsil Kathua led by its President Prem Singh Jasrotia Numberdar Merath met Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh NCP chief J&K state at Kathua. While addressing the delegation, Thakur Randhir Singh said he is very happy to meet the Numberdars of Tehsil Kathua and their usefulness and importance to the society. He said that after the Independence this important institution has been neglected by the successive govt in Jammu and Kashmir which was playing a very important role under the rule of Maharaja Hari Singh. He said that Institution of Numberdar is as old as the Revenue administration and it has been as an integral part of the growth and evolution of the concept of the decentralized process of development at the grass root level namely village. Numberdar is perceived as a headman of the village wielding influence primarily in the commutinization process, which is sinequanon for developmental strategies. He also said Numberdars do multitasking viz as an enumerator of goings on and happenings in the village particularly recording of births and deaths, notifying disaster, mishaps or events of different hub mainly impinging on security and safety aspects. He further said that in the present scenario of law and order situation and security concerns, where disruption can initiate the environment and atmosphere and where indoctrination can adversely affect the fragile through well founding values of togetherness. Numberdar is a watch with indistinctive, intuitive and deeply knowledge-based motivation to spot, identify and segregate such disruptive elements and forces. Knowing village like the lines on the palm, any disruptive movement presence can be discerned by a watchful Numberdar. |
