While Rajouri awaits his remains, slain J&K cop's son vows to join security forces to avenge father's death

Rajouri, Aug 13: The Special Operations Group personnel Pervaiz Ahmed's 12-year-old son is determined to join the army when he grows up and be an officer like his father. The young boy's stoic declaration comes just a day after his father, Pervaiz Ahmed, was martyred during a fierce encounter in Batmaloo area in Srinagar on Sunday.
Even before the security personnel's mortal remains reached his native place in Rajouri, his eldest son had decided the future course of his life.
"I want to be an officer like my father; I want to take revenge for his death. His sacrifice will bear fruit for Jammu and Kashmir," 12-year-old Sahil told news agency. His younger brother is eight-years-old.
Ahmed was a part of Jammu and Kashmir Police's counter-terrorism unit and the sole breadwinner in the family of 11, the agency reported.
The family, who was financially dependent on Ahmed, have appealed to the state government to provide them support. Ahmed's father said, "I appeal to the state government to do justice to us. My son sacrificed his life for the country.
There are children in the family and nobody is there to take care of them. I am old, I cannot look after them and there is no support for us without my son."
His plea was reiterated by Ahmed's brother and uncle who also noted that the 11 members of the family were dependent on the slain cop and urged the state government to ensure that the family was taken care of.
Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner of Kotranka sub-division Mohammad Shafiq Choudhary condoled Ahmed's death and added that his body was yet to reach his native village in Rajouri district owing to bad weather. He stated that the delay was because of the rough weather conditions due to which helicopters could not fly on time to ferry his remains to his family. On Sunday, a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces after a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in Batmaloo area.
Later, the operation turned into an encounter as the terrorist fired upon the security forces, prompting them to retaliate strongly. The Jammu and Kashmir Police later detained two accomplices of the terrorists.
