NHW closed for traffic movement again | | | Early Times Report RAMBAN, Aug 14: The vehicular traffic on the Jammu Kashmir National Highway has been disrupted on the second day since early morning today due to the landslide at various places in between Ramban-Banihal road stretched. Traffic police officials said that there were heave landslides at Digdole and Battery Cheshma area besides shooting stones at Panthial which were triggered by the overnight incessant rainfall. The blockage of the highway has not only caused the much inconvenience to the commuters travelling between Jammu and Srinagar but also to the office goers and the students. Hundreds of small and big load carriers including trucks and passenger vehicles have been stranded on the both ends of the blocked road in Digdole. A truck driver had a narrow escape and was unharmed when a pine tree fell on it from the hill slope at Khooni nallah today morning. The concerned agencies have been busy in clearing the debris from the road since early morning and according to the sources the road is expected to be reopened by late evening today. However, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) National Highway Shakti Pathak said that it will take 3 to 4 more hours to clear the highway. |
