| FMPTI passes resolution on Article 35-A | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 18: The Forum for Maintaining Peace & Territorial Integrity (FMPTI) of JK state unanimously passed a resolution as lot of confusion has been created by some vested interests about Article 35-A of Indian Constitution as subsequent apprehensions in the minds of people about dilution and fiddling with the same. As peace is imperative for any State to prosper and progress in all walks of life, we feel it apt and appreciate to aware the general public about the historical facts that led to inclusion of Art 35-A in the Constitution of India.
However, the Forum want certain amendments in Article 35-A so far it relates to rights of women of State marrying non-State Subjects as Muslim women have a right in immovable property espoused in Holy Quran; the Balmiki Samaj who have been allowed to settle here by Maharaja Hari Singh also stake for their children born here similarly the children of refugees of Pakistan have also a stake so far it relates to human rights violation.
The Forum said that it is strongly in favor of federal system in the country where states are vested with more powers for all round growth and prosperity. We have seen the dangerous impact of centralization of powers in USSR which disintegrated and we have also seen USA where more than 50 states having adequate powers are united and strong, the Forum added. |
