J&K should be part of Northern States' amalgam against drug abuse: Zorawar | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 22: Chairman Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal today said that J&K State should have been part of common/central secretariat constituted by Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amrinder Singh for data and information sharing, which was critical to the fight against drug abuse and drug mafia. Appreciating the step taken by Punjab Chief Minister in establishing a secretariat involving Haryana Chief Minister M L Khattar, Uttarakhand Chief Minister T S Rawat and Himachal Pradesh Chief minister Jai Ram Thakur, Chairman Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal while addressing a press conference here today pointed out that "In absence of J&K State in Central secretariat, narcotic smugglers will make our state safe heaven. As such J&K must be made a part of this drive against drugs". Zorawar Singh demanded that Governor N N Vohra in consultation with heads of these states must deploy a Nodal officer from J&K State to coordinate the sharing process and be an active member of this anti-drug state amalgam that has resolved to stop this drug menace destroying our young generation. "J&K State should be an important ally to this amalgam so that a joint strategy by northern states is evolved against drugs. Drugs are also smuggled in from porous borders in J&K State and hence making our state partners in fight against drugs will strengthen this conference that met recently in Chandigarh", he said. |
