Youth dies of drug overdose
People demand action against drug peddlers

Udhampur, Aug 23: A 27-year-old youth died here, allegedly due to drug overdose on Thursday. Deceased was identified as Mudassar, son of Gulam Qadir resident of Shiv Nagar Udhampur .
According to reports youth was admitted to district hospital in unconscious condition where he died later. After postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites.
Friends and relatives of deceased later blocked Dhar road alleging failure of police and administration in controlling drug menace in the district . They alleged that drugs were openly being sold to youth in city and despite repeated appeal by NGO'S and locals, nothing was done on ground which was resulting in death of youths.
Sources said that deceased was addict from last few years, and had made several failed attempts to give up drugs. He was found unconscious in his house late in the evening yesterday were from he was brought to hospital. Local NGO Indian Democratic Human rights organization has shown deep concern over growing cases of drugs among youths in Udhampur and demanded action against drug mafia awareness campaign among youth who were being trapped by drug Pendlers.
When contacted, SSP Udhampur Rayees Bhat said that Police were after drug peddlers and some of them had already been booked under PSA.
