Early Times Report Pulwama, Aug 23: A pall of gloom descended at the house of police inspector Mohammad Ashraf Dar, who was killed yesterday after gunmen barged into his house in Pulwama on Wednesday and shot him dead. He was the third police officer in Jammu and Kashmir who the terrorists killed yesterday, as the state marked festivities for Eid al-Adha. As per reports, Dar had returned to his home in Larve village for Eid holiday. He was working in a special branch of the state police and was posted at District Police Lines in Budgam, news agency PTI reported. On Wednesday evening, suspected militants entered his house and shot him, killing the police official on the spot. Visuals accessed by news agency ANI showed grieving family members at Dar's residence, who seemed to be visibly distraught at the tragic turn of events. As per the news agency, Dar's young son said, "I miss my father a lot." Earlier on Wednesday, terrorists also killed Fayaz Ahmad Shah, a trainee police constable, when he was on his way back home after offering Eid prayers in Kulgam, which is regarded as one of the worst-militancy hit region in South Kashmir, news agency PTI reported. 34-year-old Shah was a Special Police Officer working with the Jammu and Kashmir Police and had been selected as a constable after an out-of-turn promotion. As per PTI, terrorists fired at him at a close range near his house, resulting in his death. Militants targeted another police official, Special Police Officer, Mohammad Yaqoob Shah, who was shot at in Pulwama district. He succumbed to his injuries before he reached the hospital, the news agency reported. |
