4th Natrang Theatre Festival concludes | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 23: 4th Natrang Theatre Festival of 2018 concluded here today with the presentation of super comedy play 'Sainyan Bhaye Kotwal' written by Vasant Sabnis and directed by Balwant Thakur here today at Abhinav Theatre, Jammu. Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion who appreciated Natrang endeavors and initiatives aims at prompting the art and culture of J&K. At the very outset, Natrang director Balwant Thakur dwelt in detail about the journey of Natrang's 35 eventful years. To mark these celebrations Natrang is organizing a festival of four plays every month since May, 2018 and so far 16 major plays of Natrang have successfully been performed in these festivals in the country. Performing 16 major productions in four months by a single group is a record in the country. Natrang has set a target of showcasing 48 major plays by its own team of directors, designers and actors. Play 'Sainyan Bhaye Kotwal' opens at a kingdom 'Surya Nagar' which is shown suffering from corruption, nepotism, and lawlessness. The king is busy in hunting and foreign tours and the functionaries of his government are busy in making the best use of his absence. Kotwal (Chief of police) of the kingdom dies and the king authorizes the Prime Minister to appoint a suitable person at his place. |
