LIC employees donate one day salary for Kerala flood victims

Jammu, Sept 4: A meeting of Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association Srinagar Division was held at Jammu in the Presidentship of Com. Rajesh Gupta, Joint Secretary of the Association. Speaking on the occasion, Com. Pawan Gupta, Divisional Secretary of NZIEA Srinagar Division said that the State of Kerala has been ravaged by unprecedented floods since 8th of August 2018 following the torrential rains it triggered landslides, besides disrupting air, rail and road traffic in several places. The floods are being described as the worst to hit Kerala in over 100 years. He added that the floods have paralyzed normal life of millions of people. Railway and Road transport have been halted with railway tracks, roads submerged under water. Many people have become homeless, 14 districts severely affected, 221 bridges damaged, 59 bridges still under water, 13 bridges collapsed, 10,000 km roads destroyed, 28,000 hectare agricultural land lost, 33 dams opened, 20,000 houses damaged, 211 landslides, 1,80,000 farmers affected. A large number of deaths reported and till date deaths being reported due to Rat Fever. Com. Pawan Gupta informed that LIC employees in J&K under the banner of Northern Zone Insurance Employees' Association Srinagar Division donated ONE DAY SALARY for victims of Kerala floods.
