Fraud case worked out, fraudster arrested

REASI, Sept 4: With the arrest of a fraudster, who was earlier employed for enrolment of Aadhaar Cards and having a fair knowledge of computers, Reasi police today claimed to have worked out a fraud case.
Police spokesman said that a person namely Abhishek Gupta of Nagrota at present posted as Relationship Executive in J&K Bank, Branch Main Bazaar Reasi, lodged a written complaint that one person had fraudulently got the ATM card of a bank subscriber namely Vishal Pandotra issued his favour by forging his signature. The accused withdrewn an amount of Rs 1,31,000 in various transactions starting from August 21 to 23 last. Upon enquiry it come to fore that one person namely Mohd Ashraf son of Mohd Jabar of Dhanour, who was earlier employed for enrolment of Aadhaar Cards and having a fair knowledge of computers, very cleverly forged a document to obtain the duplicate ATM Card of Vishal Pandotra son of Subash Pandotra of Reasi from the same JKB branch and subsequently also diverted the bank transaction SMSes to a fraudulent number .
"Upon receiving this information, a case under FIR no. 165/2018 under sections 419, 420, 467, 468, 471 of RPC was registered and a team led by Inspector Ashwani Sharma-SHO Reasi raided several places and finally accused was nabbed by Head Constable Baldev Singh from Geeta Nagar, Reasi.
Further his CCTV footage was also retrieved from various ATMs and the offence was established. Upon questioning him the accused broke down and confessed to the fraud committed for withdrawing Rs 1,31,000 in different transactions by using the ATM card.
