Kailash Yatra to commence from Sept 6, chopper service to be introduced for first time

DODA, SEPTEMBER 5: The Kailash Yatra, 2018, will commence from 6th September, 2018.

According to district administration Doda, the Charri for the Yatra will be taken from Vasuki Nag temple, Bhaderwah, to Kailash Kund at an altitude of 13000 feet.

The Yatris will come to the main temple at Kailash Kund from districts of Udhampur and Kathua by foot through different routes which converge at Rishi Dul at Kailash.

District Administration Doda will introduce Helicopter service this year for the first time on trial basis.

The helicopters will operate from Degree college Bhaderwah (helipad) to Rishi Dul (the final base camp of Yatra). The service will be available only from 6th September to 9th September.

The one-way fare for chopper will be Rs 2950 per passenger. The helicopter will have a one way flying time of 8 minutes. It is expected that the helicopter service will give a major boost to the Yatra tourism in the region.
