KPC expresses concern over deletion of names of KPs from voter list | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sep 7: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) today expressed grave concern over the deletion of names of displaced people of Kashmir from the voter lists in Municipal elections at Jammu. The KPC termed the same as a big conspiracy hitched by some elements in the establishment and political parties so as to cause damage to rights and interests of Kashmiri Pandit community. President KPC Kundan Kashmiri said that the KPs are living in exile for the past 29 years and are refugees in their own country and are facing all human right violations. He said that same has been proved by denial of voting rights in municipal elections by deleting names from the voter list of wards. The KPC President termed the same as murder of democratic process and deliberately depriving the 'hapless' community from right to exercise their franchise which would further alienate the internally-displaced KPs. He appealed Home Minister and Governor to intervene in the matter and solve the issue as soon as possible. The KPC has submitted a memorandum to Home Secretary and Election Commissioner. |
