Early Times Report
JAMMU, Sept 7: National Democratic Party Indians (NDPI) has decided to contest Urban Local Body polls for the first time across the state after convening a core committee meeting today at party office. All the party portfolio holders, and senior leaders participated in the meeting. Expressing serious concern about non participation by Kashmiri Pandits who are residing at various location in Jammu city, President NDPI, Sandeep Turki said that it is unfortunate that despite residing here and voting in valley has deprived Kashmiri displaced community for enjoying civic facilities in native localities. Sh Turki urged upon the concerned authorities to take appropriate measures so that Kashmiri Displaced should be allowed to vote at present place of residence.
Urging upon the workers and portfolio holders for gearing up to contest and galvanize support in favour of party candidates, Sh Turki asked workers to intensify mass contact in every ward so that ULB results would become a strong base for the party in the state. On the occasion, Vice President, Rajan Kumar expressed hope that people are in close contact with contesting candidates of party. He said that people are fed up with old parties and are hopeful that the NDPI would fulfil their aspirations. So it is duty of party to take expectations of the people serious and on priority, Kumar said adding that after analysing ground reality it is expected that party will hold lions share in ULB.
On the occasion, General Secretary, Tilak Raj, Joint Secretary Umesh Manhas, and other senior leaders also addressed the meeting and expressed satisfaction over the working of party leaders and workers.
