| 500 kanal encroached forest land being sold for residential plots | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Sept 9: Loot of forest land continues unabated in Rajouri so much so that not only the mafia but commoners also encroach forest land and, make plots and sell it to make quick bucks.
Sources see a nexus between officials of Forest Department and land mafia flourishing in the district but now the local public which has been residing there since long time indulged in the encroachment resulting 500 kanals of Forest land has been captured at village Aela near Panchayat Barakh just 10 kms from Tehsil Pouni and being sold to people for residential purposes.
"Last few years it has been observed that local people who possesses private land has been encroaching Forest Land adjacent to their land by fencing them.
The people in surrounding lodged complaint with Forest Department but the officials posted there didn't give heed to this problem and asked them to approach their senior," they alleged. They appealed the Governor to intervene in the matter and demanded strict action again the culprits. |
