Omar Abdullah Rules out any tie-up with BJP

New Delhi, Sept 10: National Conference (NC) vice president Omar Abdullah Monday ruled out any alliance with the BJP for the formation of government in Jammu and Kashmir. Taking it to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, he wrote, "I understand some old news videos from 2014 are doing the rounds trying to suggest that NC is going to support a BJP lead Govt in J&K. Let me make it very clear - this IS NOT happening. This WILL NOT happen. This is some psy-ops plan designed to unsettle the @JKNC_ cadre."
In the series of tweets, the former chief minister said that the old videos are being used to unsettle and scare the workers of the NC. "Ordinarily I wouldn't bother with such stuff but it seems the videos are being used to unsettle/scare some of my grassroot level workers & so I'd rather nip this mischievous piece of fake news of @JKNC_ supporting a BJP CM in the bud right here & now," he wrote in another tweet.
It is to be noted here that the Jammu and Kashmir state is currently under Governor's rule. The decision came a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had announced its decision to pull out of the alliance with Mehbooba Mufti's People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state citing growing terror activities and radicalisation in the valley making its continuance "untenable".
Meanwhile, on September 8, National Conference (NC) leader Farooq Abdullah had said that the party will not only boycott Panchayat elections but also Lok Sabha and Assembly elections until unless the Centre doesn't clear its stand on Article 35A and Article 370."
It is to be noted here that the state government last week announced the schedule for holding elections to local bodies and panchayats in the state. While the urban local body polls are slated for the first week of October, the Panchayat elections are scheduled to be held in November-December this year.
