SSKM presents "Sangeet Sandhya"

JAMMU, Sept 10: Saraswati Sangeet Kala Mandir (SSKM), Jammu presented a "Sangeet Sandhya" programme of Indian Classical, Light Vocal and Instrumental Music here today at Abhinav Theatre.
Anjali Sharma, Station Director, Radio Kashmir, Jammu, was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr Arvinder Amn, Additional Secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, presided over the function.
Anjali Sharma, in her address said that, Saraswati Sangeet Kala Mandir, is a premier institution of music and has contributed considerably for the promotion of classical and light music as well as for the preservation of our rich cultural heritage.
Dr Arvinder Amn, in his address underlined the need for making the budding artists, conversant with our traditional Dogri folk forms as some of these are at the verge of extinction.
The items presented included classical songs based on Raga Khamaj, Dogri geet, Duet song "Suno Sajna", Ghazal and Dogri songs based on Raga Aasavari.
The participating artists were, Pranavi Khajuria, Rajanya Khajuria, Suchika Jamwal, Bhoomi Arya, Sanvi Anand, Shivani Misra, Shisha Gupta, Sahiba Gupta, Sunandini Jamwal, Disha Bhagat, Sheetal Dogra and Shallu Dogra.
The programme was dedicated to the eminent educationist, broadcaster, cultural and social activist Prof Rita Jitendra, who passed away this morning.
