Farooq changing statement after statement
9/10/2018 11:00:08 PM
Shifting stands thy name is Dr Farooq Abdullah. First he threatened that his party will not participate in the Panchayat elections when a few days ago he had appealed to people to join the poll process as that would bring additional funds to the state for development. Later he has announced that his party will neither take part in the Lok Sabha or the Assembly elections provided the centre does not guarantee that it will safeguard Article 35-A. National Conference (NC) President and former chief minister Farooq Abdullah has said his party would not contest assembly and parliament polls if the special position of the State including Article 35-A was not guarded. "You can bring in whoever you want in power in the State but NC won't be a part of poll process till GoI clears its stand on Article 35-A," Abdullah said addressing party leaders and workers at the 36th death anniversary of NC founder and former Prime Minister of Jammu Kashmir, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah.
His statement comes close on the heels of his earlier statement on boycotting Urban Local Bodies (ULB) and Panchayat polls.
Terming Prime Minister Narendra Modi a 'Hitler', Abdullah said Modi announced ULB and Panchayat polls from Red Fort without taking anybody onboard. They didn't take us onboard or ask us before announcing elections," he said. Abdullah said NC was not against elections but asked how any party could go to people to seek votes when everybody had apprehensions that Article 35-A would be revoked after ULB and Panchayat polls. Since the issue is in the Supreme Court Dr Farooq Abdullah neither can dictate terms to the Apex Court nor can he anticipate the Court verdict. The way he has announced that the Court is to revoke Article 35-A it indicates that he has foreseen the judgement of the court when the Court has not taken any decision.
His statement that the NC, the major mainstream political party, and the PDP, another main stream political party, stood by their decions to boycott the ULB and Panchayat elections it means that the two major parties were trying to influence the honourable judges of the Supreme Court. If the NC and the PDP believe that they can influence the judges of the Supreme Court they are wrong because Judges do not work under any influence. If the NC boycotts the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections it means Dr Farooq is leaving space to the Congress, the PDP and the BJP alongwith the Panthers Party in the region of Jammu. This way Farooq is trying to blow hard and fast by issuing his threats because he knows that neither Article 35-A can be revoked nor he can leave the field open for the PDP, the BJP, the Congress and the Panthers Party.
