Despite accidents, minibuses without permits drive to Vaishno Devi | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Sept 10: Despite scores of pilgrims having lost lives in road accidents while travelling in minibuses without route permit to the revered shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi the concerned authorities have failed to put check on the menace. Official sources said despite nakas on the route, scores of minibuses including Tata 407 without route permit, ply to the shrine in Trikuta hills. "Government is not learning any lessons from the previous tragedies when three persons died in road accident one kilometer away from Katra town, whereas in another accident near Shiv Khori in Kanda area, ten pilgrims had lost life. In both the cases, the vehicles had no route permits," said a senior official. The pilgrims said the Traffic police only takes money from the minibuses without route permit whereas the unlawful activity was not being checked. Meanwhile the locals and other concerned have appealed the Deputy Inspector General of Police Traffic to personally look into the matter. |
